A FORMER pupil of St Cyres School will find out this weekend if he progresses to the next round of Pop Star: The Rivals.
Jamie Shaw,17 who attended the school, is in the last nine of the hit TV show.
The teenager is from Pencoedtre village and always seemed destined for stardom.
He said: "This is my dream. It's been a massive roller coaster ride and I'm loving every minute of it."
If Jamie makes the band he will record a Christmas single.
Living in the house with the other contestants he is hard at work.
And said: "We're all up before 7am for the voice coach and then it's off to Pete Waterman Limited or to London Weekend Television for rehearsals. We get home at about 10pm."
The pressure is rising for Jamie and he has to keep his nerve to get into the band of his dreams.
He said: "There are a few psychological sore throats as nerves get frayed. But were all staying positive."
Jamie has his own ideas about fame and said: "When you start asking for green M&M's not red, you lose all credibility. I'm definitely going to keep my feet on the ground."
His parents Cheryl and Adrian are revelling in his success as Jamie becomes increasingly famous.
He said: "My dad always wanted to be noticed, and he was just recently.
"As for me, a couple of us went to a concert and we got recognised. It was great being mobbed by people who knew us from Rivals."
Jamie has already survived the first vote but the crunch time is yet to come on Saturday on ITV1.
He added: "I'm confident, because I know I will do my best. I just hope everyone from home will support me."
