EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of October 21, 1977:

Penarth Town Council is backing Llandough Residents Association in its opposition to any move to set up a permanent gypsy site at Llandough Moors, within the Penarth Boundary.

Penarth WRVS Darby and Joan Club celebrated its 16th birthday last week when a large number of members enjoyed the beautiful cake, made by Queen's Caf.

The Rev N Hilary Collins, MA, will be inducted as the new Rector of Penarth with Lavernock next week, as successor to the Rev Norman Griffiths.

The Penarth Ladies Conservative branch held its monthly meeting recently, under the chairmanship of Mrs Kay Menhinick.

There was a happy gathering at Christchurch Sisterhood recently when Mrs Rose Griffiths entertained members to a birthday tea.

EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of October 23, 1992:

The first public involvement with the implementation of the new council tax will begin in earnest this week in the Vale.

The Barn Dance in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, held at the Lee Hall Dinas Powys, on Saturday, October 10, raised £820.

BBC Wales television personality Kevin Owen opened the successful craft fair held by St Mary's Church, Dinas Powys.

Mr John Morse of Penarth Flower Centre has been successful in a series of National Examinations held recently and has been awarded the National Intermediate Certificate of the Society of Floristry.

Mrs Joy Matthews welcomed the members of the WRVS Tuesday Afternoon Club to the meeting last week and gave a special welcome to Mr Price, a new member.

The speaker at the meeting of All Saints Men's Society, on October 12, was Mr Derek Turner and his subject was his recent visit to the Sistine Chapel in Rome.
