PENARTH baby has won a competition for being a beautiful newly born.

Sion Easthope, eight-and-half- months-old scooped the Asda Cardiff Bay's regional prize for the 'Bonnie Baby Competition' . There were more than 300 babies entered for the competition run jointly by Asda and Pampers nappies.

She added that they were very proud of Sion - who does not shy away from the cameras.

He is a happy baby and is very rarely sad.

Parents Kathryn and Anthony were chuffed because they had put Sion in for the South Wales Echo competition and did not win.

Dad Anthony Easthope, a trainee accountant said: "Sion is very photogenic and will always have a smile for the camera. And he seems to like being in the limelight."

He added that there was only one occasion when Sion was miserable on a picture.

Grandmother Mary Prewett,62, of Cogan said: "I was thrilled to hear that one of my five grandchildren had won a competition.

There is no doubt that baby Sion won because he has such friendly nature and is always so cheerful."

She continued by saying that she enjoys looking after all her grand children and loves being a full time nanna.

And for winning the family were given £50 of Pampers nappies. The overall national prize winner was a Jack Lewis of Cardiff and his family won a years shopping from Asda.
