AS A retired HGV Group 1 licence holder and driving instructor, I should not be surprised to read Judith Palmer's letter of October 17.
It does however cause me some concern.
Surely, Judith Palmer, you have the wit not to need double yellow lines to tell you whether you are causing an obstruction or not.
Surely you can see that you are causing difficulties for residents who want to get in and out of their garages, to say nothing about a large vehicle, fire engine, refuse wagon etc, trying to gain access.
You seem not to be aware of the rule that you should not cause hindrance to other road users: that to use a vehicle on the road, you are required to do so in such a manner as to not cause damage or injury to property or persons, or to put persons in fear of such.
The conduct of the Magistrates gives cause for great concern. Anyone doing Law at O level knows the rule about hindrance on the public highway.
The magistrates did not prevail on the side of common sense and justice at all. All they did was to raise a question mark on their competence to try the case.
The painting of double yellow lines along Windsor Terrace Lane will not be of any use either. Many disabled badge holders think they are there to provide them with a parking space. The lane should be No Entry except for access.
