So dignified

IT WAS a privilege to attend the very moving funeral service for young Matthew Lewis at All Saints Church, Penarth.

The large number of young people present must have given comfort to his parents and family.

I write to commend the students from St Cyres School, all modestly attired, and though upset they conducted themselves with great dignity.

The escort of Air Force Cadets was a fitting tribute to Matthew as they stood throughout the lengthy service and their officer constantly watched over them for signs of distress.

We hear so much today of appalling behaviour by the "yobs" but it is an encouragement to know that the majority of our young people are a credit to their parents, their school and the associations to which they belong. Well done to all concerned.

Mrs E L Renwick, Britten Road, Penarth.
