PENARTH paid its respects to the dead of the two World Wars on Sunday, November 10. The parade was lead by Chief Petty Officer Ralph Lawday.
And the ceremony was attended by civic dignitaries as well as members of the public.
Lorraine Barratt AM for Cardiff and Penarth laid a wreath along with David Clapham Mayor of Penarth, Edgar Clark President of the Penarth Royal British Legion and many other important members of the town.
Present day recruits honoured the dead with wreaths laid for each section of the armed forces.
Wreaths were laid at the Penarth Garden of Remembrance and a two minute silence was heard on the day.
Phil Moriss directed the British Legion Band which played The Last Post and Reveille.
The weather was cold but managed to stay reasonably calm for the march and ceremonies.
From there the procession went to St Augustine's Church where the Service of Remembrance was heard at 11am.
After the service the parade returned to Station Approach for the Dismissal.
Refreshments followed at the Royal British on Station Approach.
Donations are still being counted for the 2002 Poppy Appeal and hopefully it will be another good year.
