Fun for all the family

IF YOU are looking for some sort of tonic from all the bleak news we keep hearing about, then Penarth Operatic and Dramatic Society's forthcoming pantomime Babes in the Wood, is just the thing for you.

It is full of fun and laughter, and is ideal family entertainment.

The children will just love Desmond, the soppy deer, Robin Hood and his Merry Men, Maid Marion and Nurse Nightingale, who are the "goodies" helped by the Fairy Queen and her "cool" young assistant Firefly.

Then, of course, there are the "baddies", the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham and his not very bright sidekicks, Nickel and Dime.

Their antics and stupidity are bound to cause much hilarity.

You can see Babes in the Wood at the Paget Rooms, Penarth, from Thursday, November 5, until Sunday, December 8, and with ticket prices so reasonable this is definitely a treat for the whole family.

Evening performances start at 7.30pm and there are Saturday and Sunday matinees starting at 2.30pm.

Tickets, priced £6 for adults, £5.50 concessions and £4.50 for children (with reduced prices for party bookings) can be bought at Darlingtons Opticians, Glebe Street, Penarth, tel 2070 7858, Wood Street Post Office, tel 2070 7170, or by ringing PODS Ticket Secretary, Brian Gardner, tel 2071 2260, or Wendy Huxtable on 2070 8046.
