Hospital gets royal visit

LLANDOUGH Hospital was visited by royalty this week.

The Countess of Wessex was at the hospital on Tuesday, November 19, to meet patients in the poisons ward and open the new diabetes centre.

She also unveiled the plaque in the chapel to an audience of local dignitaries, including leader of the Vale Council Jeffrey James and NHS Trust chairman David Durham.

The Countess of Wessex visit to Llandough Hospital was part of a whistle stop tour of Cardiff and it's surrounding areas.

On Monday night, scores of local Duke of Edinburgh workers rubbed shoulders with Sophie, and her husband Edward.

The couple were special guests at a reception held a City Hall.

The event was held by the city's council to welcome their Royal Highnesses ahead of the two-day Duke of Edinburgh Award General Council, which is being held at the Millennium Stadium.

Yesterday the couple undertook separate tours of the area as the Duke of Edinburgh himself opened the award council event.

The Earl visited Peter's Food Services in Bedwas, Caerphilly to unveil the company's new livery.

While the Countess spent time touring Techniquest and, of course, Llandough Hospital.
