Cinema review 'Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets'

AS HARRY Potter returns to the big screen in his latest outing, marketing, merchandising and promotion is in your face 24/7.

While that may be enough to put you off the film, the movie itself may possibly make you feel even more annoyed if you do watch it.

Just before Harry Potter goes back to Hogwarts for another year, he is visited by Dobby, a little elf who warns him not to go back.

But Harry ignores Dobby and returns anyway to meet up with his friends, Ron and Hermione.

While there, mysterious happenings occur as some students are found in dramatic states of shock.

Harry learns that it has something to do with 'the chamber of secrets', so he goes off to investigate.

As you may remember, I was no fan at all of the first Harry Potter film, but to tell you the truth, I'm no fan of Harry Potter in general.

But the first film did have a strong sense of atmosphere and it seemed to please the world anyway, so it pretty much did its job well.

This sequel - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - is supposed to be better, but I think it's terrible.

If the film works for its target audience then it cannot be criticised.

However, I found this to be one of the most boring films I have ever had to sit through. Scene after scene just seems to be an excuse to sell toys and computer games.

They are pointless and drag the film out which must make some kids bored too.

It begins with a strong opening and ends pretty well too - there is also a superb scene involving giant spiders.

But it's the rest of this long, drawn-out film that made it painfully boring for me to watch.

I found Daniel Radcliffe to be awful in the first film.

He still appears to be wooden in this sequel, although he has improved a great deal.

The same can be said for Emma Watson too.

The only decent child actor here is Rupert Grint as Ron because it's his natural charisma that makes the film worth watching,

It may have the all the formulas to make it a decent and successful film, but I hate it! Simple as that. But that's just me.
