Restoration

I HAD the pleasure of hosting a colleague from across the pond last month.

Being from New England he was very taken with the newly-completed barrage and was interested to learn of our proposed timber walkway from Penarth pier.

However, he passed comment on our neglected pier ballroom.

How long can we and the Vale continue to turn a blind eye to this neglected focal part of the town?

Surely it is not beyond the capability of the council (the owners) to apply for a lottery grant of some £100,000 to restore this lovely building to its former glory.

Or maybe I have missed something and plans are in hand?

I would love to know the real story. Perhaps some pier pressure is needed.
