Jamie's first tour will not visit Wales

EX-ST CYRES star pupil Jamie Shaw will not be entertaining Welsh crowds this year - our venues are not big enough.

Despite the fact that the 17-year-old is from the Vale, and fellow band member Matt Johnson, also 17, is from Mancot, North Wales, 'One True Voice' will be staying firmly in England and Scotland for their first official tour.

Much to the talented performer's disappointment, dates have only been lined up for Birmingham, London, Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester and Sheffield.

The rumour is that Cardiff is not getting a look in at the new harmony group sensation because our largest concert venue, the Cardiff International Arena, can only hold a standing capacity of 7,500 people.

Organisers of the Popstars: The Rivals first tour only wanted the tour to go places where 8,000 fans or more can cram in to see their favourite stars.

An ITV spokesman said that Welsh fans of Pete Waterman's latest boy band will just have to be patient and wait.

He said: "This is a Popstars tour, not a One True Voice tour.

But the boys are looking forward to playing in Wales in the near future."

Jamie has had less than a month in the limelight, and his mum Cheryl, 47, says he has not stopped.

She said: "At the moment, the boys are doing all the promotions for their single which is being released on December 16.

They've moved out of the house and are in a hotel waiting to settle into their flat.

They've flown across to Dublin for shows and have travelled all over the country.

He is disappointed that the tour isn't coming to Cardiff, especially as everyone supported him so well.

But he is still working on it, so we never know.

Perhaps he can persuade them to book one more show."
