SULLY COLTS U-9 Raiders played as 'Champions of Barry' in the Coca Cola five-a-side Champion of Champions' tournament in the Millennium Stadium on Sunday, December 15.
The boys rose to the occasion and lifted their game with excellent team-work to compete with some of the best teams in the South Wales area.
The team of Ben Bellingham, Luke Blatchford, Lloyd Chalke, Oliver Laity, Daniel Reid, Michael Roach and Alex Villis played against teams from Port Talbot, Cardiff and Swansea to win their way through to the semi-finals.
They won their semi against Newport to gain a place in the final against a strong Merthyr side.
The final was very exciting and resulted in a draw after full-time.
The boys all gave 100 per cent but were unfortunate to lose by a 'golden goal' in extra-time.
All team members played competitively and sportingly and were excellent ambassadors for the Sully club and the Barry district.
Playing in such a prestigious competition at this awesome venue was the highlight of the first half of the season for the Raiders who, along with fellow team members James Dwyer and Stephen O'Conchuir, have maintained an unbeaten record in the league.
