Penarth Town Council has given the go-ahead for cinema shows to be held at the Paget Rooms on a regular basis.

Vice President Mr Evan Morgan presented a trophy to Tony Hunt, Captain of five-a-side winners Railway Hotel 'A' at Penarth Darts League presentation night, held at Penarth Conservative Club.

Mr Charles Hamilton of Ivy Street, Penarth, has been appointed operations controller at the Barry installation of P D Oil and Chemical Storage Ltd, part of the Powell Dyffryn Group.

During the interval of Wednesday's gala performance of The Sound of Music by the Penarth Operatic and Dramatic Society, the Chairman Mr Brian O Williams, welcomed the 260 strong audience in aid of the All Saints Church Appeal.

Mr Gwyn Davies, the Secretary of the South Glamorgan branch of the Fire Brigades Union, addressed the November meeting of the Penarth Trades Council to seek support for the firemen's appeal against the Trade Union Congress decision not to back the firemen's pay claim.

Children had the opportunity to meet Santa Claus and Town Mayor, Cllr Nigel Gibbs in the town centre last Saturday afternoon, when they handed in their entries for the town Mayor's Christmas painting competition.

Penarth traders have called for the introduction of a one way traffic system in a number of town centre streets.

Penarth roofing student Mathew Camilleri, who works for Camilleri and Sons, Atlantic Trading Estate Barry, won the prestigious European roof slating competition held at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre.

Radio personality Roy Noble presented Luke Howell and Alex Turpitt, of Penarth Church in Wales School with a certificate in recognition of the school's contribution to the 'Mammoths through the Eyes of Children' exhibition being held at the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff.
