Dough-nation will help fill the shelves

PENARTH school pupils have received a boost to their new library thanks to a recent dough-nation from a well-known family firm.

Warburtons made the £130 donation towards books for the recently refurbished unit at Albert Road Primary as part of its 'Bakers Dozen' initiative to mark its first year of trading in South Wales.

The school is one of 13 organisations and charities to receive a donation of £130 from the initiative, which was set up to help one grass roots scheme in each of the 13 unitary authorities across Warburtons trading region in South Wales, currently spanning from Carmarthenshire in the West to Monmouthshire in the East.

Albert Primary School completed the refurbishment of the library over the summer holidays.

More than 200 books have already been bought through donations but the school hopes to raise money to buy even more.

Head teacher, Mrs Robbins, said: "We've got a fantastic new, colourful library and are faced with the challenge of stocking shelves with up-to-date and exciting books.

"Thanks to Warburtons and our other generous donors, we have been able to buy a number of modern reference books and inspiring fiction which is a huge boost to pupils."

Nora Beck, business development account manager at Warburtons South Wales depot, said:

"As a family business, we've always shown a commitment to supporting projects which have an impact on the local community."
