Welsh gymnasts honour Martin

2002 WAS a special year for the Welsh Amateur Gymnastics Association.

It marked one hundred years since its formation and concluded by recognising Welsh gymnasts, past and present, who have reached the pinnacle of sport by being selected as Great Britain's representatives at the Olympic Games.

Mr Martin Vick, a Special Olympian from the 1999 Games held in north Carolina, was presented with an engraved crystal memento by Mrs Rita Keitch, President of the WAGA at the Penarth Gym Club premises.

Mrs Keitch commended Martin for his tremendous achievements in his chosen sport and wished him well in his present role as a coach to both mainstream and special needs gymnasts.

Club Leader Gwynedd Lingard was similarly recognised for her inclusion in the 1952 and 1960 Olympic teams.
