Chilly spell for drivers

I hate to moan, but roads are not being very well gritted. We did have warning that a cold snap was coming, and this week has been chilly.

I don't think a day has gone by without having to spray de-icer over the car windows, scraping furiously just to be able to get to work.

That's the main problem. Normally, even if the temperature plummets in the night, throughout the following day it does warm enough to thaw the ground a little.

But recently big patches of frost and ice have lasted throughout the day The main routes through Barry are not so bad, but the smaller residential streets are worryingly slippery, and not just under foot.

While I know the Vale of Glamorgan Council's gritters cannot visit every street, would it be unreasonable to ask for a few more of those useful yellow grit bins to be stationed around the place?

Then people could take charge of their own street if it gets a bit dangerous.
