AN ELDERLY Penarth resident has claimed that he narrowly escaped injury after being dragged along by a Cardiff bus.
Sixty-nine year old Don Goodrich alleges the incident occurred while he tried to board the vehicle at about 4pm on Thursday, January 2.
But Cardiff Bus dispute his claims, saying that the driver only became involved in a bid to help because Mr Goodrich seemed confused.
The Prince Charles Court resident disagrees. He said: "I am lucky to be alive because I could have been dragged under the bus."
Mr Goodrich says he was waiting for a Cardiff Bus vehicle to take him to Barry and stood in the shelter outside West House on Stanwell Street.
When Mr Goodrich went to meet the bus, he claims the driver shut the door causing him to fall which injured his hand, knee and right shoulder.
And that the passengers had to alight and catch another bus to their destination.
An ambulance came to take Mr Goodrich to the University of Hospital Wales and he had to stay in for five hours.
A Cardiff Bus spokesman said: "Cardiff Bus were not involved other than to help the man. The fall was due to other causes than the bus. The driver stopped to help as the man seemed to be confused."
