SULLY was just one area hit by torrential downpours recently.
Residents contacted their councillor Anthony Ernest after water flowing off adjoining agricultural land, led to flooding in Swanbridge Road, Lavernock Road and South Road. Ten or more properties were at risk of flooding.
Cllr Ernest told the Times: "It was clear that only a few more inches of rising water were needed before water entered these family homes, causing major damage, and massive inconvenience to residents.
"I immediately contacted the Vale's visible services section at Wenvoe, and to its great credit, staff arrived within the hour, to lay down sandbags to protect frontages, and to rod and jet through roadside gullies, and place warning signs to advise motorists of the hazards ahead."
He added: "I was able to tell worried residents that the Vale has a number of schemes for flood relief in hand, awaiting grant aid from the National Assembly and that Swanbridge is a high priority on the list, which has already been submitted to Cardiff.
"My constituents have had this recurring problem for more than four years now, and I am determined that something must be done to resolve this issue once and for all."
Constituents can contact Cllr Ernest on Sully 2070 2111.
