Get in on the act

PENARTH talent could be exploding into the charts again after a record company revealed it is looking for four female vocalists to form a new pop or rock act.

Every year, Independent A&R Records (UK) creates two new music acts on behalf of the major record and radio industry.

Now, the company will be combing through this area looking for the best voices that could be in with a chance of gaining celebrity status.

Dave Harris from A&R Records said: "We're not just looking for good vocal ability, although that is immensely important.

We need a good personality and presentation skills and some dancing ability."

Auditions are accessible to girls aged between 16 and 25-years old, and are only open to people who have filled in an application form

Dave Harris added: "We don't want the hype that will undoubtedly follow the huge shows like Pop Idols and Pop Rivals.

We want only serious applicants to audition."

To guarantee this, A&R Records have opened an automated phone line for applicants to leave their details for a form to be sent to them.

Only if they register will the venue of the auditions then be given to them.

Dave Harris added: "It was clear from the media coverage showing long queues of hopefuls that there is an incredible amount of interest in these opportunities, which is great.

We want to see as many talented young women determined to break into the music industry.

"And to stop time-wasters just turning up on the off-chance, we are making sure only serious applicants whose details have been registered will be told the date of the auditions and the whereabouts of the venue."

The telephone number to register is 01858 432888 and the auditions will be held in March.
