Mark lane clearly

SOME weeks ago, I learned from your columns that one lady who had been charged with parking her car illegally in Windsor Terrace Lane, had been brave enough to challenge the imposition of a £30 fine.

Not surprisingly, the Barry Magistrates threw out the case and awarded her costs.

The lane involved is one of the widest in the town and has never had more than a 'no parking' sign and double yellow lines, understandably covering the first 20 yards or so from the town entrance.

Elsewhere, there are numerous spaces where motorists can park considerately and safely, most of which I must myself have used without a single complaint for well over 50 years!

However, I understand that despite the magistrate's ruling, other motorists are still being apprehended for parking in this lane, although strangely, there is no ban to doing so along most of one side of the very similar, nearby Rectory Road Lane.

Surely, our authorities must either clarify this situation by fully marking the lane or by calling off the wardens.
