Debate rages on

CONTROVERSY is still raging over the 'Billybanks' estate despite the recent public exhibition of plans.

A war of words has broken our between councillors and residents over the level of information being given to Penarthians.

As reported in the Times recently, many locals felt they were being 'kept in the dark.' Prospective AM for Penarth and Cardiff South Dianne Rees disagrees.

She said: "I feel the Vale Council showed their commitment to the development at the meeting.

They are willing to go on with the demolition and subsequent building of the replacement housing.

"The meeting was not full of new information but it was a concerted effort by the council to consult residents.

Other residents in Penarth were able to ask questions about the development."

She added: "The widespread consultation which explores every avenue means there is less chance of making a mistake."

But Vale of Glamorgan Councillor for Alexandra Paul Gray thinks that the project is moving very slowly.

He said: "I do not understand why David Locke are being employed again.

I was under the impression that all the consultations have been completed.

All the technical studies were carried out some time ago so why is the project going so slowly?"
