Send letters to Saddam

FOR SEVERAL weeks I have been one of those taking part in the silent vigil for peace outside Penarth Public Library, from 11am until noon each Saturday.

A number of passers by told us that they very much agreed with our aim and some have joined the vigil.

Last week, however, one lady said that it would be better to demonstrate at the Iraqi embassy. This was a fair point and I am grateful to her.

I investigated but found that it would be impossible, since diplomatic relations are suspended and the embassy is closed.

I have, however, written to President Hussein direct, urging him to do everything possible to satisfy the UN inspection team.

There is an outside chance that this letter may do some good, especially if there are many others, so I would urge others to write similarly.
