A PENARTH resident has hit out the Vale of Glam-organ Council's failure to supply vital signage.

Alun Davies, who lives at Marconi Road at the Marina, says his street is still awaiting vital signage more than two years after it was built.

He said: "It's very irritating, because the estate has been built for two years.

I have asked the Vale Council many times to erect a sign, but it has not appeared yet. "It cannot take that long to make a sign, surely.

It is ridiculous."

He added: "I also think there should be a plaque on the Tesco island.

It would inform people what the sculpture is, and it would be good for people to know it was linked to Marconi."

Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator for Chandlers Way, Alwyn Evans, said: "I know that some of the roads on the estate have not been adopted by the Vale Council.

This means that no-one has responsibility for sweeping the roads and tidying up in general.

Portway Marina has been built for nine years, and still no-one will take responsibility for that lane."

He added: "We have a roving sign which was erected, but found to be too big and removed it .It is leaning against a sub-power station at the moment.

"There is a recycling lorry which picks rubbish up, but the estate has not been informed yet. We don't get any information here."

Vale Councillor, Maureen Kelly Owen, said: "I think these problems need to be sorted out as soon as possible.

A meeting between the developer, residents and the council should be the first step, so that all the parties can get together."

She added: "I am concerned about these issues, because we must have road signs.

A Conservative group has been to meet residents and asked them to air their problems. It would seem there are some issues to resolve."

A Vale spokesman said: "It is the developers responsibility to put signs up when a new road is put down.

And adoption of a road is only taken up by the council when the track is up to standard."
