Air your views on Welsh radio show

PENARTH is hosting the BBC Wales radio programme People's Assembly. The venue is Albert Road Methodist Church.

Attending the debate will be David Davies Conservative AM, Dr Dai Lloyd, Plaid Cymru AM, Wayne David, Labour MP and Liberal Democrat AM Mick Bate.

Four or five questions will be answered on the night which will be put forward by members of the audience before the show begins.

BBC Producer Mari Rees said: "Audience members will hopefully get involved in the debate.

"We have chosen Penarth as a venue because we went to Barry in the Vale last time so we thought it was time we came here.

"We try to go all over Wales to give as many areas as possible to give their views.

The last programme was in Mold, North Wales and our next but one will be in Newport.

"There are 30 programmes broadcast a year with the new show presenter Vaughan Williams now chairing the debates."

She added: "We like to go to all types of areas and get as much audience participation as possible.

"The representatives on the programme are not from the local area because we want issues to be broadly about Europe and Great Britain.

And we find that if local politicians are on the panel they get a lot of questions about their home patch. But this means speakers from other places cannot give a view on that localised an issue.

"The church was chosen as a venue because it has a very good space for people to speak in and we like to use local buildings."

If people wish to go to the event it will begin at 5pm for a 6.30pm start in the Albert Road Methodist Church hall on Thursday, February 27.
