EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of February 24, 1978:

Chaotic road conditions followed the weekend blizzard which swept through South Wales and brought traffic throughout Penarth, Dinas Powys and Sully to a standstill.

The new South Glamorgan County Council rate is to be increased by nine percent over the present year's demand.

Kymin House has had a new lease of life recently with the BBC using part of the former mansion to film scenes for a 90-minute dramatised documentary about the life of Dylan Thomas, to be shown on BBC2 in the autumn.

Cogan Junior and Infants School was recently presented with a silver brick by Ken Brooks on behalf of Action Research for the Crippled Child in recognition of its continued support.

Twenty-eight-year-old Steven Crossman, of Chapel Close, Dinas Powys is to referee the Wales v Scotland Boys Clubs (under 18) soccer international at Briton Ferry on March 18.

At its monthly meeting held at the Senior Citizen's Hall, Windsor Road, Cogan, the Penarth Amateur Winemakers' Society (PAWS) passed another milestone in its short, but very vigorous career.
