Tax hike

THIS APRIL will see yet another huge tax hike to hit ordinary people.

The increases will be a nasty shock for millions of workers.

National Insurance contributions will rise for all and in addition there will be no limit to the amount of contributions demanded by the government.

As Vale council tax payers know all too well, there is also a growing council tax demand.

The increase over four years must be around 40%. Much of this is due to additional burdens imposed on councils by the Labour/Liberal Democrat government in Cardiff.

We have even seen the taxes on pension funds which will take over £20 billion from pensioners in four years.

However, the recent attacks from the Labour Party ignore these important facts.

They rather seek to divert attention and attack Plaid's financial policies.

In fact, a key aspect of Plaid's strategy is to negotiate a fairer allocation of money from the Treasury to Wales.

The present way it is worked out is 20 years out of date and it's not fair.

The current system cheats us of a million pounds each year.

Plaid would also ensure that European funding that should be allocated to Wales would not be swallowed up by the Treasury.
