PENARTH singing sensation Jamie Shaw is facing an uncertain future after a disastrous week.
The former St Cyres pupil's group, One True Voice, have been voted the worst band in Britain and seen their Popstars: the Rivals tour cancelled because of poor ticket sales.
One True Voice collected a Naomi Award - an alternative to the Brits for all that is bad in music - just hours after hearing that their 12-date tour with fellow TV winners Girls Aloud, which was due to start on Saturday, had been scrapped.
Fans of Jamie, who lives at Pencoedtre Village, are now left wondering what will happen to the star's once-promising career.
But Cheryl Shaw, Jamie's mum, has no doubt what the future holds: She said: "I know Jamie will be positive and look to the future.
"He will not give up and with the re-release of his album on Monday, which was made when he was thirteen, Jamie has a lot to offer.
"There are some new songs on the record."
She added: "I know Jamie is very disappointed that the tour was cancelled because he fought tooth and nail to get to play in Cardiff."
Jamie was excited to be able to sing in front of home crowd who supported him throughout Popstars: The Rivals.
His mum said: "As for being voted the worst band, I think that is just people trying to knock something successful.
"Jamie seems to be everywhere at the moment and has been performing in Che- ster.He has told me not to read the newspapers because they are not always positive."
Even here in Jamie's area, the ticket sales were poor for the cancelled March 6 date at the Cardiff International Arena (CIA).
Girls Aloud manager Louis Walsh was blaming One True Voice for the poor sales as the association with the boy band was not helping the girls.
A spokeswoman for the CIA said: "Refunds are now available from the point of purchase."
