A PENARTH actress has seen her role in an S4C series increase.
Mair Rowlands of Westbourne Road, has appeared in the last three series of Iechyd Da, but has been given a more prominent role as her character, Sandra, becomes involved in more storylines in the fourth series.
Mair has been an actress for more than 20 years and has appeared in many Welsh speaking programmes.
She also recently appeared in the BBC Choice comedy Fun in the Funeral Parlour with Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson of the Fast Show.
She said: "Although this is the fourth series for me I have been given a major part in the programme.
"I play Sandra working for the environment agency in the Rhonda Valley.
" There are three couples who will have major story lines which will include my character."
Sandra is a long suffering wife with a feisty teenager and a year and a half old toddler.
The character falls under the spell of her young boss Barry North.
As a resident of Penarth Mair is a member of Ysgol Pen-Y-Garth governors board on Redlands Road where her child goes.
The former London resident said: "I love living in Penarth because it has the best of both worlds with Cardiff near and the sea close by.
"The area is so much calmer than my time in London where people are a lot less friendly.
"And the schools are good for my children especially Pen-Y-Garth.
It is so important that children can learn Welsh because there are more opportunities to use the language today.
It also gives them a sense of pride in Wales and their culture.
"My son goes to Erw'r Delyn which is an excellent school."
A repeat of Iechyd Da with English subtitles is run on Tuesday, March 11 at 9pm on S4C.
