EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of March 31, 1978:

Charles Abrams has been selected to play for Wales in the Home Countries Schoolboy Hockey Championship at Penarth Athletic Field in April.

A move to change one of the traditional features of the Penarth Holiday Festival programme has received the backing of members of the Town Council.

It was agreed that there should be no fireworks display at the Seafront on the final night of the Festival.

Penarth Youth Centre played host to 50 young men from Hamburg.

Penarth Film Society Junior Members cannot see adult films like the controversial "Last Tango in Paris" a town councillor was told.

Mr John Curtin of Sully Terrace, Penarth, had been elected deputy chairman of the Technical Committee of the UK Galvanisers Association.
