EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of April 14, 1978:

Little Sophie Carpenter presented a bouquet to Father Richard Evans, assistant curate of St Augustine's and Holy Nativity churches, at a farewell gathering attended by 120 parishioners.

The LEA Singers, under the direction of Mrs Willis and accompanied by Mrs J Eddins, gave an evening of delightful entertainment at the Old Folk's Club.

Following the success of last year's colourful and exciting Carnival Parade, the Carnival Committee of the Penarth Holiday Festival Committee is planning to repeat this spectacular event.

Penarth Venture Scouts held a successful barn dance at the Paget Rooms last Saturday, at which more than 180 people enjoyed themselves to the new/old idea of being square.

Carys Williams, of the 10th Penarth Brownies, planted a Golden Catelpa tree in Alexandra Park, Penarth, on behalf of Windsor District Guides to mark the Queen's Silver Jubilee last year.

Mr Garth Jones has been appointed manager of the Penarth branch of Lloyds Bank. He succeeds Mr Keith Simpson who becomes manager of the bank's Amesbury branch.
