EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of April 21, 1978:

Feelings have been boiling up over a plan for a new take-away food shop in Penarth Town Centre.

Mrs W Leslie Smith, of Mill Road, Dinas Powis, was on Monday installed as the new Chairman of St Andrews Major (Dinas Powis) Community Council by the retiring Chairman, the Rev J Lloyd Richards.

A total of 72 members of the Penarth Amateur Winemakers' Society enjoyed an 'aromatic' evening at the Senior Citizens' Hall, Windsor Road, Cogan last week.

Steve Enticknap, from Dinas Road, Penarth, was presented with his Class Leadership badge by the Captain of HMS Fishguard.

Club Captain Mr Gareth Roberts bowled the first wood to open the new season at Windsor Bowling, Club, Penarth.

Sixteen-year-old Stanwell Schoolboy Paul Loveless won the Junior 'B' Welsh Boxing title at Swansea on Monday night.
