PENARTH'S favourite resident Sian Lloyd is proving a sure but steady hit as she quietly battles it out in the Australian jungle.
The Welsh weathergirl is Down Under taking part in the new ITV series' I'm a Celebrity......Get Me Out of Here.
Sian, who has lived in Penarth for a number of years, is already doing her bit to promote the area.
When fellow contestant and soccer chairman John Fashanu had the grim task of pouring ten boxes of creepy crawlies down his pants, she shouted: "Do it for Barry Town, John!"
The 'forty-something' metereologist has so far proved a hit with viewers with her laid-back attitude.
But she thinks many will be surprised to see her shed her glamorous image with full make-up on and her hair expertly groomed.
Speaking before she left, she told the Times: "I'm going to miss my hairdryer without a shadow of a doubt, I have got the world's most difficult hair and it needs constant attention to look good."
"I know for certain I won't look my best and I know it will be a shock but I'm not vain enough to care about it."
She describes herself as a 'big foody' and has met fellow contestant Antony Worrall Thompson before so thinks they will get on well together.
Sian said: "I will miss every type of food as I am the greediest person you can meet." Bookmakers John Brown have Sian at 9 to 1 to be evicted from the reality TV show which will be on every night.
But at 5 to 1 for the win Sian is one of the favourites to take the crown from Tony Blackburn at this early stage.
In confident mood, Sian said: "I know I can do it. I did it for two weeks in the Himalayas so I can do it in Oz.
"About 30 of us went and it was a fantastic experience. We were sleeping out in temperatures of minus 22 and in snow blizzards."
