IT wasn't only Manchester United who won their division last weekend.
Dinas Powys comprehensively defeated Ammanford 5-2 at the Murch and were crowned champions of the Second Division of the Welsh League, an incredible feat when you consider this was their first year in the division and only their third in this standard of football.
Midweek results of the Villagers rivals had gone the right way so the celebrations were already under-way before the game commenced with a variety of hair styles on display.
Initially it seemed the team took the high spirits and happy go lucky style onto the pitch and paid the price after ten minutes when the West Walians took advantage of a defensive lapse to take the lead.
It didn't last long. The Villagers got into their game and five minutes later they equalised when Jamie Dix crashed home a 20 yarder.
It got better when just before the break Spencer Lamb deservedly put Dinas in front with a good effort.
Early after the break, defender Ray John got in on the act when, after a goalmouth scramble he thumped home from six inches!
Ammanford were determined to spoil the party atmosphere and with 15 minutes remaining, they pulled one back to make it 3-2.
The large crowd in attendance to see this historic occasion wanted a win to complete the campaign and their "darling Bud of May" was striker Dix who added two late strikes for Dinas to achieve a nap hand and for him an accomplished hat-trick.
Dix's three took his tally to 41 for the season, an all-time record for the club.
The celebrations continued back at HQ The Star where mine host Mark put on the meal of the season whilst the supporters club ensured the Moet flowed.
The championship win is not the end of the season for the club.
Their next fixture is an intriguing cup semi-final against First Division league leaders Neath at Maesteg Park on May 15, ko 7pm under floodlights.
Mention must be made of the Second team who have reached the final of the Reserve Welsh League Cup to be played at Port Talbot on May 12, ko 7pm.
