Real curse

I FEEL I must comment about your article Residents call for wheely bins.

I, and I am sure many decent minded residents, were appalled to hear of the state of affairs in the Chandler's Way area regarding the collection of waste, but Alun Davies does not know how lucky he is!

I live in one of those areas plagued by plastic bags (did we really use such things "in pre-Victorian times"?!) and I have to endure this every Friday for hours on end. Wheely bins have the added advantage of being visible 24 hours a day - seven days per week, in most cases.

I have to admit that I have not seen the lanes of Baghdad recently. Mr Davies should make a point of getting out more before making such comparisons.

And seagull nuisance in Penarth Marina? Who could imagine such an inconvenience so far from open water?!

Perhaps Mr Davies should give serious consideration to re-locating to Germany, Dinas Powys or those other areas of Britain he finds more acceptable.

I suppose I will just have to endure the curse of plastic bags, which are collected on a regular basis.
