Thank you

I HAVE just returned from Serbia where, along with many other lorries and drivers, we took food, clothes and medical aid to the hospitals and orphanages in the area.

I was only able to undertake the trip because of the kind donations of cash, food and clothes given by the people of Penarth and Dinas Powys.

I would like to thank the ladies of Dinas Powys Golf Club who made up shoe boxes filled with items for ladies and children.

I would also like to thank Gaynor at Prisks who, with her raffles, was able to raise a large amount of money.

Thanks also to the staff at Wasons and Robert James who collected money and items for us to take and to the members of the winter league at Dinas Powys Golf Club for their collection and the many friends who gave me money to cover the cost of the fuel.

In total we were able to take in excess of 200 tons of aid and I must say the experience of meeting the people who received the aid in person was something I will never forget.

May I take this opportunity to thank everybody for their help in making my trip possible and allowing me to understand displaced people's needs more fully.
