No to bins

I READ an article in your paper recently from a gentleman living at the Marina wishing to use wheely bins. You asked us for our opinions - well here is mine.

There are plenty of recycling bins around for the public to use if they wish, as well as the local tipping area, which my neighbours and I use frequently.

As far as regular household rubbish is concerned there is certainly nothing wrong at all with the current procedures.

We fill our black bags, seal them securely and place them on the pavement to be collected by a very efficient service here on the Cowslip Estate.

Yes, sometimes seagulls, or indeed cats etc, will break them.

A tip to avoid this is to spray the bag with WD40; the smell does actually deter them.

After spending many years making sure the front of our house is clean and attractive, I would definitely NOT wish to have such an ugly and dirty item as a wheely bin outside my house, thank you very much!

They are also very heavy and could not be moved easily, especially when some drives are on a hill, and people with a disability or the elderly would find this very difficult.

I am extremely happy with the service as it is and the men who work on the refuse collection are very helpful.

Our rubbish is removed regularly and the 'black bag' system is fine.

No way would I have a wheely bin outside my house!
