Pop star's vow to make voice heard

Jamie Shaw has admitted that he wouldn't buy his band's new single if he wasn't on it.

Jamie's group One True Voice have been criticised for their lack of personality and are lagging behind in the success stakes compared with Girls Aloud.

But the 17-year-old thinks that the public should give the band a chance and they will produce a good third single.

Jamie from Pencoedtre Village said: "The girls sold a million with their first single and we sold 650,000. Everyone says that is not a hit, but I have a gold disc on my wall."

The band's new single, Shakespeare's (Way With) Words has been written by eighties' legend Rick Astley but the band had have little control over what they release.

He said: "I don't think we have had enough input.

"Daniel and Keith are writing great tracks. One More Night that Daniel wrote is going to be on the album, but it should be a single."

The former child popstar, who released an album at the age of 13, said: "This single, it's catchy, but I might not have bought this one if I was not in it.

While Girls Aloud have gone for an edgier, punkier feel, One True Voice have stuck to ballads and a safe image.

"We are too pretty at the moment, we need to go a bit more rustic."

An album is to be released in September with a tour to follow.
