Touch of luxury

PROPOSALS for a stunning new waterfront development of apartments and duplexes for an eyesore site overlooking the waterfront of Penarth, have been submitted for detailed planning permission by developer Decourcy Penarth Ltd.

The luxury scheme comprises 31 apartment, penthouse and duplex homes on four storeys. It will include car parking for 42 vehicles. Decourcy says it will be developed to the highest architectural and design standards.

Eight homes will be created by converting the former Inn at the Deep End pub, which under its most recent name, Zero3 West, closed several weeks ago. The inn, which is Grade II listed, was previously a Victorian baths until the early 1980s.

The remainder of the scheme will be developed on an adjoining disused pub car park site.

Decourcy Penarth Ltd has been established jointly by the Rabaiotti Group of Penarth and Bristol-based residential specialists Decourcy Group. The family- owned Rabaiotti Group has been trading on Penarth seafront since 1959.

Stephen Fear, chairman of Decourcy Group said: "Our development will breathe fresh life into what is currently a very unattractive and disused site."

Robert Rabaiotti, director of Decourcy Penarth Ltd, said, subject to approval, they hoped to be able to start work in January next year with completion in 15 to 18 months.

"This scheme will convert a site which has had a chequered history for the last two decades into a superb waterfront homes development," Mr Rabaiotti said.

Prices are expected to range from £149,000 to £495,000.
