Not true

I FEEL that I must take issue with Mrs D Thomas and her trivial and mean-spirited criticisms of the RNLI.

She displays a total lack of understanding of how modern rescue operations are conducted by stating that "lifeboat and coastguard staff were not available".

This is not true.

The volunteer crews of the lifeboat service are on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Although the operation crew receive a small allowance when they are called out, they are not paid for their time.

Mrs Thomas says that she has raised many thousands of pounds for the RNLI, and this is admirable.

Her latest "contribution" is an insult to the brave men and women of the lifeboat services and I totally agree that she should make no further "contributions" of this sort.
