DVD Review: The Transporter

RUMOURED to be what xXx wishes it was The Transporter is a remarkably good film, and should not be compared to the Vin Deisel flick.

You might possibly be tempted to write it off as just another action movie, and in a way, it is. But it is a highly enjoyable one.

Frank Martin is quietly the best at what he does. Ex-Special Operations, he delivers dangerous or illegal packages with no questions asked.

Played by Jason Statham, (SNATCH), Martin seems to be totally in control of every situation. He lives by a set of simple rules that keeps him alive.

But when he gets paid to carry a bag to a plush retreat, he gets involved in a situation that threatens not just his high-tech car and his home - but his life.

This is a good, solid piece of family entertainment. It has been given a 15 certificate, but there is very little bad language, sex scenes are discreet and there is not much gratuitous violence. When he has to shoot people, Martin aims for the legs. Decent of him, really.

This is a good one for the women (check out the physique on this man!) and for the guys, with some incredible driving skills and excellent fight scenes and even a pretty strong plot.
