PENARTH MARINA residents are furious about the state of their road-sides claiming the confusion over who is responsible for maintaining them amounts to a "dog's breakfast."
In recent months residents have been complaining about lack of signage and poor refuse collection in the area - two issues on which the Times has reported.
Now they say the streets are poorly kept and are demanding immediate action.
Paul and Sam Edwards, of Chandlers Way said: "The litter here is a constant and increasing problem and there isn't a single rubbish bin to be found anywhere from the Tesco roundabout to the end of the marina."
There is a lot of confusion about whose responsibility various parts of the Marina are.
Alwyn Evans, a Chandlers Way householder is neighbourhood watch co-ordinator for the area and has seen the grass grow and grow.
He said: "There are still some streets which are not adopted by the Vale of Glamorgan Council. We have had the long grass chopped down on Plymouth Park common, that was done by the WDA."
Mr Evans tried to explain the complications of the area and said: "The revetments on the water's edge are the responsibility of the Cardiff Bay Authority; railings and walkways along the front are - or will be when they are all adopted - the Vale Council's responsibility.
"Marconi Avenue has apparently been adopted - certainly the sewers have - though contractors are still working on parts of it (lights, cycle track, bollards); Chandlers Way and Anchor Road have not yet been adopted and the two quadrants of grass between them are currently maintained by Bryant Homes.
"So there you have it! A right dog's breakfast!"
Vale of Glamorgan Council spokeswoman, Estelle Hitchon said: "We will be adopting the streets very soon.
"The adopted streets have been sprayed for moss but the other unadopted streets are the responsibility of the developers.
"When all the roads are taken on by the Council there will be an inspection every three to six months to check the state of repair of the area."
