EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of August 11, 1978:

The time has come to call a halt to the creeping peril of office growth at the expense of shops in Penarth town centre say local councillors.

Secretary of Penarth Labour Club, Mr Bill Jeffcott, presented trophies to husband and wife Selwyn and Doreen Jones. Selwyn won the Labour Club's Individual Skittles competition and he and Doreen also finished runners-up in the pairs contest.

The Welsh Office has stated that Ministers will be concerned to ensure that any plans by the South Glamorgan Area Health Authority over the future of Sully Hospital will be acceptable.

One of the strongest advocates of Penarth Town Council taking over the Kymin has welcomed the Vale Council's decision to spend up to £12,000 to turn it into a leisure and administrative centre.

A second £1,000 jackpot prize in the Vale Council's lottery has been won by a Penarthian Mrs Carole Hayman, of Salop Street, Penarth.
