EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of October 20, 1978:

South Glamorgan County Council has denied that it is in any way neglecting the provision of services in Penarth.

A comprehensive scheme to develop the site of the fire-damaged Esplanade Hotel together with adjoining land may be put to the Vale Council, it has been suggested.

Mrs J French was the guest speaker at the October meeting of the Llandough WI and gave a superb flower arranging demonstration.

Sully WI's October meeting saw Mrs Clements, vice-president, in the chair.

The weekly meeting of old aged pensioners was held at the Rest Centre last Saturday with Mrs Gwen Cook in the chair, supported by Mrs G Thomas.

The first phase of an improvement scheme at the Elizabethan Hotel, Cogan Pill, Penarth, is nearing completion, and will be officially opened on November 6 under the new name The Baron's Court.
