Extracts from the Penarth Times from 25 years ago

25 Year Ago EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of January 19, 1979:

The Vale Council could spend almost £2 million on two major new housing projects in Penarth in the next few years.

Local residents may have to pay the costs of making up the access road giving entry to Uppercliff Close and part of Uppercliff Drive, Penarth.

A total of £6,000 should be spent out of lottery proceeds on providing children's play equipment at two sites in Penarth, the Vale Leisure Services Committee decided.

Concerned that there might be dangerous subsidence occurring at Leckwith Hill, the prospective Plaid Cymru Parliamentary Candidate for Barry, Cllr John Dixon, contacted South Glamorgan County Council to ask for an investigation to be carried out.

Penarth Town Council is opposing Cogan Coronation Club's plan to extend the club premises by incorporating the adjoining property at 9, Pill Street.

Air Chief Marshal, Sir Augustus Walker, GCB, CBE, DSO, DFC, AFC, and Lady Walker will be guests of honour at the annual dinner dance of the Penarth Branch of the RAFA at the Commodore Club on Friday January 26.
