Domestic ratepayers in Penarth face an increase of 15 per cent next year. In Dinas Powis the figure is 16 percent.

About 160 residents crowded into Cogan Primary School last Friday night to hear the Vale Council's proposals to create a Cogan Housing Action Area.

Cardiff solicitor, County councillor Richard H Evans, was installed as chairman of South Glamorgan County Council last Thursday.

Joining chairman, Betty Blundell in a toast at Penarth Townswomen's Guild's 30th anniversary dinner, held at the Masonic Hall on St David's Day, were founder members Gwen Jones, Nell Dewar, Connie Stanley and Margaret Harrison.

Town mayor, Cllr Mrs Susan Thomas, presented a tea service to Vice President, Kay Mehinnick, and a brooch to Treasurer, Nancy Adam, on behalf of colleagues in appreciation of their long and loyal service to the Penarth Conservative Ladies' branch.
