EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of March 23, 1979:

The Vale Council on Monday decided that the Leisure Services Committee should reconsider the question of whether the Old Penarthians RFC should be granted a lease for their proposed new sports hall at Cwrt-y-Vil Playing Field.

Mr Reg Maunder demonstrated a radio controlled aeroplane to 13-year-old Matthew Geldart at the Hobbies Exhibition held at St Augustine's Church Hall, Penarth.

More than 50 Llandough residents have signed a petition protesting at site clearance works in connection with a plan for the erection of 64 dwelling units at Llandough Farm.

Mrs Emily Hobbs won a prize of a basket of fruit after winning the draw at the party given for senior citizens by Albert Road Keep Fit Class.

A surprise awaited Mrs Violet Best of Railway Terrace, Penarth, when she arrived at the Red Cross Centre on Tuesday of last week. Mrs Best has retired after 36 years with the Red Cross, 22 as Commandant, and she was presented by her Red Cross friends with an electric blanket to mark her outstanding service.
