VISITORS named Sally, Terry, Jaffa and Colin visited Victoria Primary's Nursery Unit recently.

But they were very unusual visitors!

Paul, the ranger from Zoo Lab, talked to the children about spring and brought a wide range of animals and insects with him.

The children were enthralled as they met Sally the tarantula, Jaffa the snake, Colin the cockroach and Terry the toad.

Teacher Joan Marner said: "This experience met all of our expectations, helping to stimulate a lasting interest in science and to build the children's confidence through interaction with unusual animals."

With great wonder and excitement the youngsters explored the world of stick insects, giant land snails, gerbils and rabbits.

Paul held the audience like the creatures - in the palm of his hand!
