XTRACTS from the Penarth Times from February 10, 1978:

COUNCIL workmen cleared the debris from Cliff Hill, which was closed to traffic from Sunday evening to Monday morning following a land-slip which brought rocks, earth and a tree down on to the roadway.

PROPOSALS to more than double the size of Llandough Hospital to 1,000 plus beds are being opposed by the Vale Council. Councillors have expressed concern that the expansion could lead to unacceptable traffic problems.

THE PENARTH branch of Plaid Cymru is redoubling its efforts to get a pedestrian crossing or traffic lights installed on Redlands Road.

FARES increases agreed in January by the South Wales Traffic Commissioners were introduced by the Western Welsh Bus Company.

PENARTH Town Council, which has expressed an interest in taking over the Kymin, has appealed to the Vale Council to pay for repairs resulting from vandalism since the property was transferred to the Vale from the old Penarth UDC four years ago.

PENARTH RFC staged a magnificent second-half fight-back to share the honours in their customary eve-of-Twickenham match with London club Askeans last Friday evening.
