EXTRACTS from the Penarth Times of March 3, 1978:

A Penarth Town councillor has called for a reduction in the amount of traffic which is now allowed along the Esplanade - "a mjor recreational area for walking, sight-seeing and relaxation".

Children watched eagerly as their new £2,500 changing rooms took shape before their eyes. The terrapin building, at St Andrew's Church-in-Wales School, Dinas Powis, was paid for by the PTA.

St Augustine's Church is being used this evening, Friday, March 3, for a live BBC radio broadcast in the St David's Music Week series.

Shakin Stevens, former lead singer with Penarth based-group The Sunsets, will be appearing in the Welsh television pop programme Twyn-dish on Sunday, March 5.

Mr Eric Roberts this week became the second Dinas Powis man to be adopted by Plaid Cymru as a prospective candidate at the next general election.

Dr M Hugh Johnes, headmaster of Stanwell School, has announced he will be retiring as from the end of the summer term.
