Sub-Divisional Officer Leo Dacey, a member of the Special Constabulary at Penarth, was presented with the bar to his long service medal (for 20 years service) by Chief Superintendent Len Hawkins.

The Cwrt-y-Vil Tenants Association has made a plea for a new community centre on its estate, along the same lines as that proposed at the Harbour View estate.

Anne deClaire, of Laburnam Way, Penarth, recently won the weekly heat in the Courage Talent Search competition while staying at Pontin's Osmington Bay Holiday Village near Weymouth.

Leader, Mrs Doris Pawley Evans, welcomed a good attendance to last week's meeting of Penarth WRVS Darby and Joan Club.

Members of the Dinas Powys Local History Society last Sunday embarked on the first of three excursions to Flat Holm, on a local fishing boat.

The British Red Cross Society's recent flag day in Penarth realised £243.58 and the local centre praised the general public for its support.

Father Thomas Nulty returned to his former church at St Mary's, Dinas Powis, last week to celebrate the silver jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood.
